Smythes Quarry is an extensive greywacke aggregate resource which is located on State Highway 2, 9 km’s east of Maramarua and has been in operation since 1960. Initially supplying the rural market with farm grade materials, the quarry now produces a wide range of products to meet the growing demands of consumers in the Auckland and Waikato regions. Smythes Quarry produces a good range of high-quality products including basecourses, concrete aggregate and sealing chip. The total measured resource of aggregate is in excess of 500 million tonnes as determined by the international JORC code standards. This will enable Smythes Quarry to meet the supply and demands for aggregate products in the Auckland and Waikato regions well into the future.
