Due to Covid 19 Quarry NZ 2020 was postponed and became Quarry NZ 2021, held in Wellington at the Sky Stadium, 105 Waterloo Quay between the 14th and 16th July. It was clear to see the 2020 event was sorley missed with 2021 offering its largest delegate attendance to date.
For those uninformed, the Quarry NZ Conference is a once a year event where the (AQA) Aggregate and Quarry Association of NZ and the (IOQ) Institute of Quarrying NZ do a tremendous job in facilitating interaction, socilaising and the sharing of experiences for all those involved in the quarrying industry.
While it was a full 3 day programme of events, the highlights start with the Pre-Dinner drinks sponsored by Crushing and Mining Supplies which took us through to the Terra Cat Welcome Dinner on the Wedensday night. With a 7:15am start on the Thursday there was little time for Wedensday nights’ recovery. Then solidifying one’s state of mind it was onwards and upwards with the Real Steel Factory Tour that took us through to Happy Hour at BrewTown from 1:30pm.
Served in the very cold exihibition area, delegates were treated to a range of hot breakfast’s and lunches throughout the event ensuring no one was going hungry and rest assured, by the time Friday was upon us with Wellington’s barage of gale force winds this sustenance soon became essential to survive.
The Conference finished at Te Papa with a quiet walk through the museum to the long awaited TransDiesel Volvo Awards Dinner on the Friday night. With exceptional food (dinner and desert) complimented with unlimited ‘refreshments’ you would be fair to assume the close of the conference is mostly, never forgotten.
